Gyms & Leisure venues

Our gyms and leisure venues opened in line with government guidance on 12th April 2021. Details of opening times can be found on our venue pages.

Jack Hunt Pool is currently open for school and Swim Academy swimming lessons only.  It will open for public use on Tuesday 1st June.

St. George's Hydrotherapy pool and Bretton Splash Park are scheduled to reopen on Monday 21st June (subject to the further lifting of restrictions in line with the government roadmap). 

Peterborough Lido

Peterborough Lido is now open.  We will be operating pre-bookable swim sessions for either 1.5hr (lane or general swimming) or 3hr (general swimming).  Sessions are bookable online.  Details of our opening times and prices can be found on our Lido web pages.

Swim Academy

Following the government announcement on 22nd February, we have contacted all customers regarding our swimming pools reopening and resuming swimming lessons from Monday 12th April 2021 (junior including adult & child ducklings).  Adult lessons will resume from 17th May 2021 (subject to government advice). 

No payments will be taken during this period of closure, all customers have been written to regarding the resumption of direct debit payments.

Club Viva Childcare

Libraries

Following the government's announcement of a new national lockdown, all Peterborough libraries are currently closed, with the exception of Peterborough Central Library which is currently running an online 'select and collect' service.

Peterborough Museum

Following the government's announcement of a new national lockdown, Peterborough Museum will be closed to the general public from until further guidance is issued by the government. We thank you for your understanding during this time.

Flag Fen

Following the government's announcement of a national lockdown, Flag Fen will also remain closed until further guidance is issued by the government.

Any customers affected will be contacted to arrange a full refund.

While it is deeply regrettable that we have had to make this decision on this occasion, our number one priority will always be the safety and wellbeing of our customers and staff.

The Key Theatre

Important information regarding bookings

Please note that our new box office and online bookings system will be available as of 00:01 on Friday 16 April with a whole new look and feel.

After this time, any bank payments made for tickets to Key Theatre performances may be listed on your statement as ‘TicketSolve’ (rather than ‘Key Theatre’ or 'Vivacity' as may have displayed previously). This is the name of the company who run the new booking system and is completely normal and expected. Your bookings will be otherwise unaffected. 

Any tickets previously booked for the Key Theatre will transfer over to the new box office system automatically. You do not need to take any further action. 

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Key Theatre once government guidelines declare it is safe to do so. 

Regarding changes to show dates

Whilst the Government's announcement of a national lockdown and its stricter restrictions is a disappointing setback, the Key Theatre and City Culture Peterborough remain committed to ensuring that the safety of its staff, volunteers and visitors remains paramount. We will continue to do everything we can to support all efforts to end the pandemic and see a return to a society free from restrictions as soon as possible.

In line with government guidelines, the Key Theatre is currently closed to the public, and will reopen once the government has announced that it is safe to do so.

We are now working to reschedule performances and once we have agreed new dates our box office team will be in contact with those customers who have been impacted by this change.

Please await contact from the Box Office in order to keep our communication lines clear. If you would like to discuss alternative arrangements for your booking however, please email keytheatre@cityculturepeterborough.org.uk with your query.

It's official. Following the government announcement on 5th April, we will be reopening the following Leisure Centres on Monday 12th April 2021:

Hampton Leisure Centre

Bushfield Leisure Centre

Before you look to book, join or attend a session in any of our leisure centres, please read this information carefully. It provides you with all the information you need to know before safely returning to a Vivacity leisure centre. You can also watch our video here.

Jack Hunt Pool & Gym will open in the near future, the dates are still being finalised, and we will be in touch with the information as soon as we have it.

What are the opening times?

All sites are currently closed but when they do reopen on Monday 12th April you can find the opening hours on our individual venue pages here.

What is Vivacity doing to make the leisure centre safe?

You will notice some things are a little different, but our facilities and friendly staff are ready to provide you with the perfect space for you to enjoy a safe and pleasant return to the gym.

- We have introduced new enhanced cleaning protocols

- Hand sanitising stations are available throughout the centre

- We have implemented one-way systems and social distancing measures throughout

- Introduced bookable sessions for use of the gym, pool and exercise classes with a monitored number of people to maintain social distance

What to do when visiting to the leisure centre?

Following the issuing of Government guidelines, we are introducing new temporary measures to keep our members and staff safe.  Please adhere to the following guidelines.

- Clean your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water or sanitiser.

- A face mask must be worn in our venues. This can be removed for exercise.

- Clean all equipment before and after use with disinfectant equipment provided. Dispose of wipes/ tissue in the nearest bin.

- Maintain social distancing.

- Follow directional and instructional signage and one-way systems.

- Sign in at reception.

- Should you have any additional needs and need support accessing our facilities and / or are unsure how this guidance affects your ability to access our facilities, please contact the centre before your visit.

 

Feeling Unwell

- Please do NOT visit one of our sites if:

- You are showing any symptoms of Covid-19 i.e. you have a new continuous cough OR fever OR loss of/change in smell or taste

- You are in self-isolation or in the “shielded” category.

 

Should you test positive for Covid-19 following a visit to one of our sites, please contact the NHS track and trace team.

How do I book, pay and attend a gym, swim or class exercise session?

To meet government guidelines we have revised the capacity of our leisure facilities and introduced bookable sessions for use of the gym, pool and exercise classes with a monitored number of people to maintain social distance.

- You can book and pay (free with a Vivacity gym membership) for each individual session.

- You can book a session through the Vivacity website, at reception or via the Vivacity App. (Our booking system is now live)

- Bookings can be made up to 8 days in advance. We kindly ask that individuals only book 1 class session a day to provide customers with fair access to activities. 

- If you need to cancel a booking, please do so as soon as possible. This provides time for other customers to book on. 

- You will be able to cancel your session by telephone or via the mobile App or website. All cancellations require a minimum 30 minutes notice prior to the class to allow time for us to rebook your space from the waiting list.

*If you fail to cancel your class and do not attend you will be blocked from booking any fitness classes for 7 days

- You should arrive no more than 5 minutes before the start of your session. If you arrive early, please wait in your car or outside the building, whilst maintaining a safe distance from other customers.

- Fitness classes will temporarily take place outside until May 17th (subject to government guidance).

- If you use a mat for any activity in the gym or classes then you will need to bring your own for the foreseeable future.

- Some equipment in the gym will be out of use to ensure adequate social distancing between members.

- Please help us with cleaning equipment before and after use. Cleaning materials are available in the gym and fitness studios.

- You should come to your session gym or swim ready. By that we mean come wearing your gym wear and for swimming come with your swimming costume under your clothes and bringing as little as possible in the way of extra clothing.

- Please bring your pre-filled water bottles however water fountains will be available if you wish to refill your bottle. Please use hand sanitiser before and after use.

Once your session has finished/ before starting a second:

- You will need to leave the building, rebook online and / or register yourself for the additional session by following the one-way route back through reception. This is so that we can confirm you have stayed in the building for the additional booking and to comply with Track and Trace.

Is there a class timetable?

Yes, our temporary class timetables are available. This will be reviewed constantly with the aim to provide the best class offering to our members in line with government guidance. Class timetable

Will changing rooms, showers and lockers be available?

Showers, changing rooms and lockers will all be open again from Monday 12th April.  Where possible we would still like you to come gym and swim ready to reduce the number of customers in our changing rooms.

Will the sauna and steam rooms be open?

No, at this time the sauna and steam rooms will remain closed.

Can I still go swimming?

At the Regional Fitness & Swimming Centre:

Children between the ages of 8-13 must be accompanied by an adult while in the pool.

There will either be lane or general swimming at different times of the day, please check the booking timetable on our website for more information.

Diving boards are not in use.

Swimming sessions are 1 hour 15 minutes.

At Premier Fitness:

There will be lane only and general swimming available.

Swimming sessions are 1 hour 15 minutes.

 

At all venues, swimming pool capacity will be monitored in line with our risk assessments.

Spectating is only allowed in exceptional circumstances. Please contact the centre for further
guidance.

Can I spectate?

Due to lower building capacities there will be no spectators allowed in the viewing areas during swimming sessions.

Yes, you can join the gym (from the 12th April) in the following ways:

Adults and children aged 11+ are required to wear a face covering whilst walking around our leisure facilities. Pupils may remove it for their swimming lesson.

 

Before the lesson

Please arrive swim ready. By that we mean come wearing your swim wear under your clothes.

We are limiting the number of people in our leisure centres at any one time so please can only 1 adult come along to supervise.

Arrive no more than 5 minutes before the start of your session. If you arrive early, please wait in your car or outside the building, whilst maintaining a safe distance from other customers and wait to be called in.

Pupils are asked to remove clothes over their swimwear in the changing rooms. All pupils will be signposted to their individual station on poolside to get ready for their lessons.

Children in swim stages 3 and under are to be accompanied to the poolside by their Parent/ Guardian. Any children in swim stages above 3 and aged under 8 may also be accompanied on poolside by their Parent/ Guardian.

Children aged 8+ are asked to leave their children at the poolside changing room doors.

To ensure children are ready to go we ask that the adult please help fit swimming hat and goggles and any visits to the toilet happen before the lessons start.

 

During the lesson

When the lesson is ready to start pupils will be welcomed by their swimming teacher at the entrance from the changing rooms to the poolside, take the register and give them any required equipment for the lesson

A new delivery model has been designed that ensures our lessons are safe, in line with Public Health guidance, progressive and fun for all taking part.

Teachers have completed Covid-19 secure training and will remain out of the water.

Once the children are ready, Parent/ Guardians can move to the balcony to watch the lesson. Please sit in the  clearly marked seating for spectators to maintain social distance.

 

After your lesson

At the end of the lessons Parent/ Guardians may meet their child on poolside and take them back into the changing rooms to get them dried and dressed.

Changing rooms should be vacated 10 minutes after the end of lesson to allow for the next lesson to enter.

 

Staff will be available around the building to help signpost parents and children to the right areas.

Once your child has moved up a stage, please contact the reception on 01733 864760 to arrange the next stage times and days.

at Vivacity Premier Fitness

Face masks

At the end of the lessons Parent/ Guardians may meet their child on poolside and take them back into the changing rooms to get them dried and dressed.

Changing rooms should be vacated 10 minutes after the end of lesson to allow for the next lesson to enter.

 

Staff will be available around the building to help signpost parents and children to the right areas.

Swimming Certificates

Once your child has achieved a certificate, you can collect this the following week from reception during you child's swimming lesson.

 

Ducklings additional information

Following government guidance our swimming instructors will not be in the water for the lessons. Therefore we advise 1 parent / guardian to support their child in the water during their lessons to continue to aid support and increase water confidence.
