Make 'chick-cans' and bunnies from recycling
Brighten up your house with these super cute chick-cans and bunnies! Recycle an empty can and use it to store bits and bobs or to hold pens or just display it as a decoration on its own.
What you will need:
An empty can, scissors, glue and/or sticky tape. Something to cover the can: coloured paper/card or paper. Something to decorate the can: Felt tip pens or coloured pencils or paint.
What to do:
To make a chick-can or bunny, take a piece of paper or coloured paper and measure your empty can against it. Cut a long strip of paper that will wrap round and cover the whole can.
Use whatever materials you have (pens, pencils, coloured paper) to decorate your can. See if you can make wings and a beak for your chick-can or ears and whiskers for your bunny, these can be attached with glue or sticky tape.
Don’t forget to give your chick-can or bunny some feet! These can be taped or glued to the bottom of the can.
Don’t have any empty cans? If you have full ones in the cupboard, you can still cover these, just be careful not to pierce them. Your parents might want to make a note of what food is inside the can so that they can still use it in the future, or leave it as a surprise!
Don’t have any cans at all? See what characters you can make out of other recycled packaging such as milk cartons, juice cartons, cereal boxes, drink bottles, yoghurt pot, washing up liquid bottles.
See what other animals or characters you could make, perhaps everyone in the family could turn a tin can into a mini version of themselves or perhaps use other recycled materials.
