Make your own paper town
Free
Overview
Create your own city or town using paper and simple folding techniques
What you will need:
Paper or coloured paper, scissors, sticky tape
What to do:
To make a simple house take a strip of paper or coloured paper and fold it half lengthways and then half again. Unfold the paper to see 4 panels, cut triangle points at the top of the 2nd and 4th panel to create a roof. Cut away excess paper on the 1st and 3rd panel.
To create a door, make an upside-down L shaped cut in the paper from the bottom of the paper.
To create a window, make an F shaped cut in the paper, to create a double door create a T shaped cut.
Fold the paper along the crease lines to create the final box house shape and tape together.
To create 3D trees, place overlap 2 pieces of paper and cut out a tree shape, creating 2 tree shapes. Cut a slit in the top of one tree and a slit in the bottom of the other tree, and using the slits, slot the two trees together.
Extension:
You don’t have to just make buildings, why not experiment and see what other things you can make, what about cars, planes, animals, robots, maybe even something that’s totally abstract!
There are lots of ways to fold and cut paper, including making lots of cuts to create fringing, making zig-zag folds and taping or gluing strips of paper into rings.
